Can a robot build a model of itself? |
 |
Although information theory has historically been mainly concerned with information transmission between a sender and a receiver, several recent lines of research have focused on addressing issues concerning relationships between information sources. In particular, it has been shown that the space of information can be equipped with a metric. It is therefore possible to adapt some of the vocabulary and tools of geometry to the domain of information theory. Such a framework is well adapted to study issues related with the emergence of the self-knowledge and self-awareness.
